Can anyone tell me how to tell the difference between an a4od transmission from an IDI 7.3 and a powerstroke 7.3 ?? I have an old transmission sitting in my shop and I can't remember which truck it came out of.

The 4R100 will have a turbine sensor located on the top of the bell housing, the E4OD does not.

edit: misread what you were asking. AFAIK they both had an E4OD.

Is the 94.5-97 PSD transmission different from the 99-03 version? This either came from a 90 idi or 95 psd.

Those are both E4ODs. As I remember it (it's been more than 20 years!) the '90 will have four studs on the torque converter and the '95 will have six studs.
