93 Bronco Cam question

I was wondering if a cam for a 351w can be put in the 302w in a Ford truck engine I am trying to make my bronco wake up a bit and I heard of a 351w cam going into a 302w will wake that engine up like crazy..... So who has done this and is there any issues to watch for?

cam changes can be helpful. the thing is you need to have other items done first to acquire those gains.

are you still running stock exhaust manifolds? stock exhaust. what else is built on the truck? tire size, gears and what goals are you looking for.

yes, IIRR with a change to the firing order, but, there is really no reason to do that when Isky, crower, etc have excellent grinds for the 302 that will provide all those gains and more...........

If the motor in your '93 is original it has a roller cam in it while most 5.8 motors of this vintage and older had flat tappet cams, so swapping one of those in would be a step backwords. But the stock cam in your motor is very small so you would benefit from an upgrade but I wouldn't suggest installing another stock cam because they're all really tame.. buy something aftermarket like the Comp 35-512-8

i would upgrade the gears first to 4.10s

the cam will require the front of motor coming apart so new water pump, timing chain and new Tstat.

Be careful what you wish for. You start breaking 33's loose and that aint all you'll be breaking.

but it's 4x4 changing the gearing in the rear would require it to be done in the front also or the transfer case will fail
