I was wondering if a cam for a 351w can be put in the 302w in a Ford truck engine I am trying to make my bronco wake up a bit and I heard of a 351w cam going into a 302w will wake that engine up like crazy..... So who has done this and is there any issues to watch for?
yes, IIRR with a change to the firing order, but, there is really no reason to do that when Isky, crower, etc have excellent grinds for the 302 that will provide all those gains and more...........
If the motor in your '93 is original it has a roller cam in it while most 5.8 motors of this vintage and older had flat tappet cams, so swapping one of those in would be a step backwords. But the stock cam in your motor is very small so you would benefit from an upgrade but I wouldn't suggest installing another stock cam because they're all really tame.. buy something aftermarket like the Comp 35-512-8
cam changes can be helpful. the thing is you need to have other items done first to acquire those gains.
are you still running stock exhaust manifolds? stock exhaust. what else is built on the truck? tire size, gears and what goals are you looking for.
ok tranny is built to the point it is unbreakable I ran it dry on the highway once old owner did nothing but build the tranny it has 33" tires and JBA shorty headers all I Wana achieve is when I stomp it I Wana break the tires loose from a dead stop axle has 355 gears open rear end planning on putting in a posi trac kit where u just replace the spyder gears

so if I ordered that cam and brought it to a shop what else would need to be replaced/ upgraded?
