Is the FRB303 camshaft too much for my pretty much stock 1995 5.0.I've only done exhaust and a 56mm TB..... on her and gotta dig into the front of the motor so I'm cam swapping.....Thanks
I would think that the E303 cam would be more suitable for a truck. The B303 seems to be more suitable for a mustang or light car. The truck I believe needs a little more torque to get it moving which I don't think the B303 cam would provide. I bought a B303 cam for my 351 truck but was talked out of using it and ended up running a stock HO mustang cam and using the B303 in my car.
Don't put an alphabet cam in a truck...you'll hate yourself for evermore. It won't idle on the SD trucks, and it will have even less grunt below 3000rpm.
Conanski, I by no means take your words in veign. No alphabet cam?Ok ......My truck is MAF......so then what would be a good grind?Other than Comp Cams 35-308-8......
I have to agree with Conaski, the Ford Racing "alphabet" cams ( E, B, F, X-303) are nto the best cams to run in anything (car or truck). Best thing to do is get the factory HO cam from a Mustang 5.0 and advance it with a multi-keyway tinming chain 4 degrees. Be the best bang for the buck and fairly inexpensive...
Heh...my wallet is light enough as it is......I do love the specs that cam shows but haven't really been able to find a similar one for less of a price...It may sound stingy but.....really tight squeeze with this budget anyways.
I am very satisfied with the HO cam. It produces great torque and power throughout the entire RPM. When I get caught up on other projects I am going to invest in some 1.7 rockers.

do as conanski said keep the stock cam and run 1.7 rockers if money is an issue. remember you get what you pay for and if you skimp on the cam thats like puting a bird heart into a rhino.
I was just pricing a stock replacement cam for a93 Mustang GT....let's just say the comp cams grind I listed above is cheaper. If I do 1.7 roller rockers what else will I need to do to my heads and wutever else to get things going smoothly?Ya'll are a big help and I thank you very much.
Big waste of time and money swapping in an HO cam in a 94-97 truck, the difference between the truck's F4TE and the HO cam are miniscule. The truck cam has 10* less duration (advertised numbers) and .030 less lift on the intake side only. The exhaust profile for both is the same. Swap to 1.7 Cobra roller rockers and you'll equal the power numbers of the HO motor with the truck 5.0.
I found a local guy with a set of Comp Cams roller rockers...brand new in the box.He was building a motor for a guy and they guy backed out...I'll have to see what else he had but he mentioned something about GT40 heads.I'm getting the rockers from himon friday...I've got the day off to take care of some stuff and hopefully I'll have the engine apart......will these 1.7's clear my stock valve covers? And will my stock pushrods work? Also, I'm replacing the lifterswhile I'm in there(I've got a ticking) what lifters should I look at for a decent price (Under 100 bucks) that will let me hammer her down a little.....Thanks for all that you've told me and I appreciate it.This is my first EFI take down so wish me good luck.
