Very true. But you need the entire electronics package in the newer truck to make the trans operate. So not only do you have to swap the trans, but you'll need to swap the engine, too. And all the computers. And all the wiring. And probably the entire dash. And that will probably also require swapping a few other things I'm not thinking of. All in all it would be cheaper to drive your truck off a cliff and buy a brand new 2017.
