My Co worker gave this to me for my 6.0. Should I install it? I know nothing about it or should I buy a more updated one? What is the benifit of having this? If I do install it should I do a k&n cold air intake? I'm not really looking to wreck a motor after I just had my trans rebuilt.
Hi, I have an edge on my 7.3 and a edge juice on my 6.0 . They are a nice programmer , they lack the ability to shut of the check engine light off after doing the EGR delete but other than that they are great. Yours should have 6 available programs, I only use the tow and the mileage programs myself . The tow makes a big difference for stock, it gives you just enough increase in torque and power to keep the truck from shifting a lot when towing. I like the choices for the things you can monitor on the screen, like boost an trans temp. . They also are able to read and clear trouble codes. Give it a try , I think you'll like it.
SCT would be the way to go if you were buying a new programmer, his was free which is a hell of a good deal. I bought the one on my 7.3 but my 6.0 came with the Edge juice already on it so for now it's staying. Next investment will be a decent scanner so I don't have to ask you a bunch of dumb *** questions. lol
This is THE tuner from Edge that kills transmissions. The Edge Juice with Attitude shift on the fly tuner is what gave Edge the bad reputation everyone here talks about. It's very simple - do NOT put PCM chips into 6.0s, and that's what the black module is.
I would agree with everyone and go with the SCT tuner. I have an Edge I bought as well and the only this I use it for is to monitor EGTs. The price was right and the photo looks like it has the EGT probe as well.
I don't feel the need for the more expensive ($600) 5015 or the newer boxes. I don't keep my tuner in the truck where it can grow legs and walk away from me. Then you're out your gauges, plus the tuner, plus a dealer flash back to stock at ~$125.
Or if you want to save some coin grab a used sct x3 and then a edge cs or cts monitor to keep an eye on all your vitals. I personally went with this option. Tuner stays safely in the center console. Edges CTS 2 sits on the dash
The nice thing about Gearhead is they will give you I think $50 off a custom tune if your purchase the programmer from them. Their tunes will literally make you re fall in love with your truck.
