I have a question about changing in order that is beyond processing I have been issued a Vin and a tentative build date but I wanted to know is there anyway to change something on my order at this particular stage if not I guess I'll just order a different truck
I was in a similar situation and realised I wanted an add. My truck had a VIN and build date but no window sticker generated. Supposedly the dealer made contact and the option was added, but until I receive the truck I won't be sure. My current build date is late November.
My build date is supposedly 11/14 I have a vin but no window sticker has been generated. I want to change from the 6.2 gas motor to the 6.7 diesel and add operator commanded regeneration also. I guess I will get in touch with my dealer tomorrow and see if they are willing to change it.
Position 8 in the VIN is the engine, that's a pretty significant part of the build so you would have to start over from scratch at this point. Why the change in heart?
I worry about resale and usability of the gas motor. I know it's capable of hauling towing and pulling anything I personally would need it too but 5 to 10 years down the road it's probably not gonna be very desirable to a lot of people unless someone is specifically looking for a gas motor. Other than that the truck I ordered is exactly what I want how I want it all the options the way I wanted it I know the gas and the new transmission for it on the F2 50 is a great combination now but the diesel is more desirable by a lot of people then I gas I'm probably overthinking all of this LOL
I changed my order 2 1/2 weeks after the initial order was put in. The dealer to,d I had to do a whole new order. I did and it set me back a month or more with delivery of the truck. Oh well I really want the adaptive cruise so wait I will!!! My first truck I order has been built and is being shipped.

FWIW I would never purchase a modern out of warranty diesel. Repair bills are far too high. Just for curiosity I did a KBB on a 100k 2011 Crew Cab XLT F250. Selling to private party in very good condition has a diesel $5200 more. So you've paid $8k plus higher fuel cost and general maintenance twice as much so that you can lose an extra $3000? Nothing wrong with getting what you want, but make sure to check your premise!
I did 2011 because an actual 10 year old truck would be an undesirable international motor. People looking back now are stuck with either the 5.4 or the 6.8 v10, and each have far more disadvantages than the 6.2 does.
On a whim I called my dealer and asked if I could change interior color. They called the factory to see if it was too late, and in my case it was, but it did tell me that I might have been able to if I had done it earlier. The dealer did offer to write a new order and start over again.. I thought about it but decided against it, I'm too close to the finish line!

I believe your question has been answered, but typically once your order has been picked up to build, it's too late. And Franz's advice about not buying a modern diesel outside of warranty, is correct.
One can always 2nd guess yourself. Just go with your gut intuition. If the gas truck will do the job, it certainly will cost you less upfront and to maintain in lieu of today's EPA diesels. But if you want the diesel and all the torque and maintenance expenses and upfront costs it brings with it, I'm sure the dealer would locate or order you another truck.
