Help me decide :(

I need some help deciding what truck to go with.
I placed an order, but it has not been picked up yet so I can change.
I keep debating and going back and forth between a loaded (just about every option) Lariat (ordered) and a similar build platinum.

Here’s my dilemma: each truck has features I like, but can’t get on the other.

Lariat pros:
Chrome front and rear bumpers
Oxoford white paint
Camper package

Cons:
no factory power deployable running boards
lesser quality leather
no massaging seats

Platinum pros:
power running boards
nice leather
nicer massaging seats

cons:
platinum white (don’t like it as much as oxford)
painted bumpers (not a huge fan, don’t know how long they’ll hold up)
no camper package
about $3500 more

Basically if I could get a platinum in oxford white, or if I could get a Lariat with chrome package and power deployable boards from the factory, I would go with either.
I could add power steps to the lariat $1695 from the dealer (asked for Ford steps, don’t know if that is what was quoted or just Amps)
I could always add a sway bar to the Platinum for the camper package part

What to do

I did a build and price at the website last night on a F450 Lariat and was able to add power running boards for $795. I also had the Ultimate Lariat Package, so maybe the running boards are only available with that package????? Did not try otherwise.

Both are very nice, but looking at your pro's and cons's as you see them, I would say go with the Lariat.

I was facing the same dilema. I wanted the Plat interior, especially the massaging seats. I also cant get a liking for the painted bumpers (looks like a car), they also chip. I also dont like the deployable boards. My Lariat should be in my driveway in a few days. I got a massager from amazon!

HSB is correct you can the power boards with the Ultimate.

Also, the chrome door handles feel very cheap.

yes you can, but you can’t get the boards with the chrome package. that is the issue. i like the chrome package for the door handles and mirror caps.
i like them better than painted because in my experience they hold up better to scuffs, etc... i have chrome bits on my gmc and still look great compared to other painted handles i have had in the past.

If I can get Ford powered boards and have the service department program them into the truck, i will go that route.
I really don’t want amp steps, but if that is the only way to get powered steps, that is an option

Ahhh...now I get the delimma.

Another thread here somewhere addresses the AMP steps. IIRC, the final conclusion was that AMP is the supplier to Ford for their steps. One in the same. If I do NOT remember correctly (IIDNRC ???) I'm sure someone here will set me straight.

I think amp allows ford to use the design. the amps plug and play into the obd port. i believe the fords are wired differently. also, the trucks that have them from the factory are programmed so they can be turned off through the instrument cluster. I think that is a nice feature in case there is ever a situation where i would need to prevent the boards from being deployed

I think the door handles and mirror caps will be easier and cheaper to install than power steps.

mirror caps, yes. they look to be fairly inexpensive as well.

door handles, not so sure because of the sensors in them. if i’m looking at the parts fiche correctly, they look like they are about a $115 each

This was an easy decision for me. I did not want the Lariat moon roof so I optioned a Platinum very close to my Lariat build less the moon roof and the Platinum was damn near $6k more. I'm sorry I don't see $6k worth of value there. I would have liked the Platinum seats but I can grab a pair from a totaled Platinum later for a lot less than $6k.
