Looking at fords build and price, the auto dimming is also available on the SD.
Yeah, and I was expecting it. But build and price is wrong, delivered trucks don't have auto dimming outside mirrors.
Maybe the wiring would match up, since it is the 150 cab. But I know the outside mirror dim signal comes from the rear view mirror; no sensor on the mirror itself.

Oh i see. I guess the only way to find out is to try it.
Hey guys. My truck is still on order.... What is the overall width with the mirrors retracted? ...with the mirrors folded in? I have 8ft wide garage doors and wondering how tight it'll be. Ford.com specs say 80" without mirrors, but obviously every truck has mirrors... Not sure what the other width measurement is, folded, unfolded, extended, retracted....
Thanks in advance for the measurement. Free beer in AZ for first responder!
The auto dimming is removed soon as you select that mirror, it appears to only be on the small 150 normal mirrors, not the sd look-a-like option so you wouldn't get that anyways, also my mirrors fold in in drive as well, I have even done it on the hwy! I use it all the time when getting close to drive throw windows at fast food places
And what I don't like is they WILL NOT fold in while in D. So if you come up to a place where you think you need the space, you have to put it in park, pull in the mirrors and then put it back in drive.
What are you talking about Ruby?? The mirrors sure do fold while in D...and when the truck is moving. Just did it the other day pulling up to a Sonic and the bank drive through. NOW...what they don't do that the old models did...was fold with the truck turned off. You sure you were pushing the mirror button and not the window????
I really hate that truck off no fold thing, I'm so use to folding them after I turn the truck off that it's hard to relearn, it's not so bad with the push to start but still a pain

A dually is 96" wide. When the mirrors are retracted, they stick out about 8" on each side to roughly equal the width of the dually fenders. For those of us with duallys, the mirrors are a nice way to gauge if the truck itself will fit. But figure on folding your mirrors in to get in the garage. Folded, they probably only stick out about 3.5" on each side.
Also the width of an f150 with mirrors is 96.8 and the SD with mirrors is 105.9. So to have something to compare to, SD mirrors stick out 9.1 " farther (4.5" each side ) than the f150 regular mirrors. And as mentioned above, if i remember right, 3.5" is the folded in width per side.

The mirrors stick out 3-5" more than the rear wheels.
I park my 450 in a spot where the rear wheels barely fit, and I have to fold the mirrors at the same spot that my rear wheels just have an inch on either side.
The mirrors are indeed a good gauge to see if the rear wheels will fit.
