Increasing torq

Throwing this out for discussion. I have a 2016 Screw 3.5 eco boost 4x4 with 3:55 rear end. Noticed the specs for that is 365hp and 420 torq. I see the 2017 3.5 eco boost has 375 hp and 470 torq. Can we convert the 2016 to the new specs?

You would have to replace the engine. The 2017 3.5L EB is a completely new design.

you can also tune your existing engine. it won't be as robust as the new version, but it will make that much power pretty easily. Quite a bit more, if you want it to.

You can get those numbers with nothing more than a tune. Look at 5 Star Tuning.

Interested to see what 5 star tuning can do with the new version of the ecoboost. can they approach raptor numbers, or possibly surpass them?

they have a dyno chart published on their website for the '15-'16 EB 3.5 that shows a gain of approx 100 tq and 50 hp (at the *wheels), on 93 octane. so roughly 115 tq and 60 hp at the crank assuming a nominal 15% driveline loss. extrapolating that out, we get 535 tq and 425 hp. give or take, I'd say pretty close to the new raptor numbers. Of course that's without all the beefed-up durability/longevity benefits of that new engine.

it does not void your warranty. What it does is give Ford something else to blame for failures of related parts. The rest of the warranty stays perfectly intact, and there are supplemental warranties available for if/when Ford denies a claim because of the tune.

I have a livernois tuner which adds 120 tq and 75 hp at the wheels but I have to use 93 octane fuel.

My truck was more towards 20%-25% loss on a Mustang dyno.

Back to the OP...so are you really wanting to bump your Gen1 EB? I mean, more power is a generally a good thing, but as a fellow '16 owner I must admit the current EB is pretty awesome. The engine is a mature beast with any early bugs worked out. I'd argue the aftermarket products are not worth the lack of warranty...especially with the Performance setting.

Drive your '16 like you stole it and trade up in a few years. I'm a strong proponent of not buying anything new for the first year or two.
