Looks like my tailgate release button doesn't work. Using the key fob it works fine but not with the button on the dash below wheel. I have tried it with it running and without, with it in park and in drive, etc etc.
Anyone else having a problem? As far as I know it never did work since I just tried it recently.
I noticed the other day that the doors need to be unlocked for it to work. At least thats how it seemed. pulled up to my 5er, hit the button, nothing. Hit unlock on the doors and pushed the tailgate button, it worked.
I had the same experience on my test drive. I couldn't get the button to unlock the gate. Later as I was out of the truck the salesman got in and pushed the button and whala! I was trying some combination that didn't work and I didn't try it again. Just thought I'd figure it out when my truck arrives. It's something like what switch is suggesting which would be weird.
Don't know if its different for push button start, but if you do......If the doors are locked and I have my FOB on me, the tailgate will open via the button. If I do not have my FOB and the doors are locked....no go. It will not open.
The tailgate lock being connected to the doors locking is what I wish it was from the beginning! That way you don't have to worry about it when leaving your vehicle. Would there ever be a time you would want to open it on the move? I can't really think of any so it would make sense to have the truck unlocked. Is there a way to hold the tailgate buton down to bypass the doors being locked?
