^^^ x2. Different motor than you but same style without a cap. Fill the degas bottle to the max then run the motor. Be sure to cycle the heaters on as well so you can ensure the heater core is filled up as well, then top off as necessary.

I replace the rings with stainless clamps from McMaster which have a nice housing around the screw.
No... the radiators on the excursion also process transmission fluid. There are 2 connectors on the bottom of the radiator (in and out) for these lines.
In the < 2005 models, this is a standard screw-in connector. Two wrenches and Bob's your uncle.
For the 2005 Excursion, they switched to a quick-disconnect connector that requires a special tool to disconnect the lines. Here's a link to the one that I bought:
That same type tool is required to change fuel filters on 2004 explorers too. spending $10 for tools (or the $22 version you bought) to do a job are almost something to celebrate!!!
