Well said!
If they "hate" you for voicing a question/oppinion, then they weren't worth your time to begin with. Alot of us rednecks out here are fairly laid back. If we ain't pissed because we got called "redneck", then we won't be offended at another fella's perseption of a word. After all, it's not like you personally attacked our kin folk.

Hey there RHunt64! I'm glad you had a chance to defend yourself in a respectful way. I do respect how you are clinging to your opinion. Not a lot of people can say that. Nothing would have bothered me more than to see you change that opinion. I would have lost the rest of the respect I had for you. But at this juncture, My respect for you and your opinion has grown!
Yes, we can and will remain friends. If we can't express our views and opinions, and be afraid to do so, a frienship never existed.
I'm glad I called you out on the "carpet"! A True FRIEND will do that from time to time, to see where they stand with one another.
I'm done with that aspect (for now hee hee).
There seams to me that there are quite a lot of those here that cling to the "South" ways of doing things. It's a great thing!
Me, I'm kind of a "MUT"! My ole man was in the military and we never stayed in one place too long. I can't claim to be a Northerner or a Southerner. But have lived in both areas.
This IS truely a Great Country we have.
Well, like you said, I'll make this my last response....
See you all at THE FORUM! Take care!.....

Most of the "rednecks"/"Hillbilly's" I've met don't know how to turn on a computer.
Now, I've met these people at farm auctions, out riding horses...etc; Now could you tell me how you folks who are rednecks know how to use computers Are you "upper class rednecks"?
I'm sincerely curious about this, because all my redneck friends aren't very bright...always the odd exception...is that what the FTE rednecks are...a large collection of odd *****?
Hrmm...just wondering...do you all have neighbours that are computerless...and when I say my redneck friends dont know how to use computers I should rephrase...they don't own/don't want to own one.
Well if anyone wants to shed any light on this I'd be appreciate it.
and besides, just 'cause someone knows how to use a computer doesnt mean they aint a redneck. the only thing i do on my computer is look at this site anyway.

let me see if I can open the curtains alittle. aman my mother worked for in the early sixties owned a company in texas called the Permain Corp. (midland...west texas). They would send tanker trucks (115 barrels times 44 gallons abarrel) out to the tank batteries and buy the oil from the producer and haul it into the refineries and sell it for a profit. This was a very profitable business as there were probably 5 refineries scattered out around the area. Mr. Davis actually made it thru the 4th grade in school. He was a Red Neck by most definitions but a very astute gentleman . If you heard him talk he sounded like he had only made it to the 3rd. grade, but he had a certified Iq of 185. He knew more about the oil business and about petroleum engineering than any graduate engineer. He hired several because he didn't want to go to college. Why waste his time..he was making too much money anyway. I don't think that lack of education necessiarly means that people who are very bright aren't capable of coming up with very sophisticated idea's and theories. Rather, their lack of vocabulary , often causes educated people to assume...incorrectly that... they aren't very bright. You just can't judge folks by their red neck lingo in my opinion.....sk
Any one remember the first rednecks? They got their name because they were mostly no-collar construction workers with sunburned necks.(in which case I quailify). They were also mortal enemys with the longhaired pot smokin hippies. Now I see people who are proud to be rednecks that have long hair and smoke pot. What's up with that? Can you be a longhaired pot smokin redneck or is that some kind of oxymoron? If you were a real redneck would you own a computor or even know how to log on? I think some people that want to be rednecks really aren't, or does just wanting to be one make you one nowdays? Maybe Jeff F. is reading and can clear some of this up for me.

By saying "why are rednecks on this site...on their computer" I wasn't referring to a poverty level/education level computer wise. I was referring literally to...why would you be inside on your computer???? Isn't the whole point that your more of a outside kind of person...and when your not doing "outside stuff" (which I assume is most of the time) isn't there some other thing to do? My friends seem to think computers a waste of time. That was pretty much my point. They have other things to do...work in the garage for instance
I agree but my garage is still a dream and it is just too hot to do anything else outside after working 8-10 hours out there sweating my b--ls off. When I get the garage done you won't hear so much from me, but for now FTE is a great place to stay up with the hobby I love. Thanks to all those that make it possible.
I think owning a truck is a way of stating, I'd rather live away from the city. It tells your personality. You prefer a vehicle that serves a purpose, and can have fun in.
For me, as a woman, I get ALL kinds of comments. Your husband lets you drive his truck, that's a big truck for a girl. I also am called a hick or a redneck for driving a big old truck..It's fine with me, I'd prefer my old truck, than a new one. LOL, guess I should drive around with overalls, straw in my hair, and braids, with Alabama music blaring! It never bugs me, I get a kick out of what people say..
In fact, most of my clients look for my truck, because they know I won't drive anything else. It has become my trademark.
Overall, I'm not a redneck. My whole family lives in southern states. From Arizona, Oklahoma, Missouri, Nebraska, across to Mississippi. I'd LOVE to live on land, sit on the porch swing at night. That's what I'd call Home sweet home.
I don't believe I really qualify as a redneck, nor do I try to be a redneck, but I do believe I have a lot of redneck characteristics--just not all of them. I take it as a compliment when someone refers to me as a redneck.
I won't live anywhere I can't pee off the porch if I want to, I love old trucks and The American flag, I believe in treating a lady with respect, spanking kids when they need it, owning guns and minding one's own business. but my I.Q. is 139, can I still be a redneck?
