I'm very new to this forum thing and obviously a new member here. I bought a barn find 55 F100 about 5 years ago. With the help of a friend, a new battery and some fresh gas, we had it running the next day. I've been using it with the factory OHV 232 and 4 speed not daily, but quite often.
Over time, I purchased a wrecked 94 F150 for the EFI 302. Bought a 4 speed automatic out of a 2000 Explorer, that, with the right brain box, is supposed to work correctly. I just got a 9" rear end out of a 67 pickup to slide in the back. Am looking for a Dakota front suspension to go that direction for the IFS.
Got lots of parts and lots of work ahead, but think it will be a great daily driver. Any concerns, alternative thoughts would be appreciated. Don't get too PO'ed though if I disagree, OK?
Looking forward to what you all think and getting lots of advise from folks who have been through this a time or two.
Sounds like you have a running stock truck, but I get the "mods" you intend to do. When I got my truck the drivetrain was missing the motor so I used a 1990 EFI 302, with AOD and Explorer rear.
There are days where I shop for a "flattie" for it, but at this stage I'm not sure I want to go through the expense and time. I drive my truck whenever I can, and travel at highway speed , no problem.
Enjoy your build, you'll have to put up with not driving it until you finish, but either way, welcome to the site.
Not sure where you are located, but I just happen to have a 54 F100 with the flattie still in it. No idea what the condition is, but I'd probably make you a deal.
