It would of course be my daily driver with a commute round trip of 64 miles. I guess I will have to see them side my side and decide from there. I am sure the longer wheelbase would help with ride too, I am just not thrilled about such a long bed. If you could get the largest fuel tank with the shorter bed I wouldn't even consider the 8' bed.
Just pick a shortbed with a titan tank , voila

I can park my SB in my garage by about 6". Many cookie-cutter homes will have garages that just barely fit an SB ... some won't. None will fit an LB. Tomorrow, when it's 15 F and people are scraping their windshields, I'll be warm and toasty in my rig. Garage parking is critical for me.

I bought a short bed thinking it would be plenty since I live in a suburb. Unfortunately, it still doesn’t fit in the garage and now I’m left without enough bed length for an extra fuel tank (need range for pulling) as well as a small load of camp firewood as well as five bicycle.

What I also learned is that a 3/4-t truck has no business with a long bed and a diesel. With my bicycles, firewood, family of five, and 1,000-lbs of tongue weight, my truck is MAXED OUT. The axles have capacity left but I’m right at 10k GVWR. ...and I still don’t have my auxiliary fuel tank!

A long bed crew cab 4x4 diesel F250 is a rare bird. At least around here.

They upped the gvwr to 10,800 for 2020 in the f250 diesel in a lot of configurations but you might as well go to a 350 as you breached the 10,000 gvwr cut off. Unless you have a specific trailer gvwr and not subject to commercial motor vehicle regs.

On the flip side of that I had a Ram 2500 4x4 cummins short bed and swore off shortbed HD diesels after that truck. But look at me now in another shortbed 4x4 diesel. I turned that Ram into a work truck and I am lucky enough to have a separate long bed work truck now days though.

If you have a diesel there are several under truck tank options that increase fuel by around 20 gallons. I looked but not having problems with my smaller CCSB tank with my diesel.

May be old but some of the posts are still funny.

FWIW my '15 was a SB though I could still haul the same 5er. I like the LB because I can put more stuff in it when hauling and when not I can actually put a 4x8 ft sheet of plywood or drywall in the bed and close the gate.

Long beds for me. I've had 2 short bed trucks, and quickly found the limits and/or frustration with items not fitting...from ATV's, to lumber, to steel, to truck parts, etc...
My main truck will always be a long bed now.

Got a DRW for towing.
Long bed and DRW combination is best setup for towing heavy.

I like the 450s' look with the dually longed but prefer short bed when going with SRW. Still tow my gooseneck and my 40' fifth-wheel toy box around with zero problems. I like the added space of the long bed but prefer the look of the short bed. My F550 has a 12' utility bed on it and it's awesome for what it's used for but my personal daily driver just makes more practical sense as a short bed.
I put a lot of stuff in my 8.0 for camping I use the truck 80% of the time towing a trailer so it works out great for me

I thought my SB was a perfect fit for me when I lived in Tennessee. Even with the Diamond back tonneau cover it managed to carry anything I wanted it to.
Now since I loved back to Alaska I hate it. Soon I’ll be placing a order for a new long bed CC and then will add a full size fiberglass shell on it.

Best use I ever had for a short bed. A couple lifetimes ago I had a ‘56 F100 stepside short bed 2WD. Worked OK to haul my rear around the farm / ranch a bit. One day I slid off a steep bank and rolled it. Took it back to the shop, removed the doors and cut the top off the cab and just used it to haul some fencing gear, a few posts and a couple rolls of barbed wire. Made for a pretty darn good fencing buggy.
Anyway, I had an 80 acre pasture that I kept the horses in with the barn and corrals in one corner. Had an old “Boss mare” that when I would walk out to catch them she would wait until I got right up to them, would stick her nose and tail in the air and take off to the farthest corner from me. When I get near them again…..rtinse, repeat, with all the rest following her. One day, I had enough. Run the old F100 up to the shop and cut the muffler off. Then closed the gates to the corrals where the horses could not get in. Took the noise maker out, got after the old mare and ran her, staying right on her until she was so damn tired she couldn’t hardly move. Opened the gate to the corrals and let them in.
After that, all I had to do to catch the horses was start the ‘56 up and they would head straight for the barn! So yes, there is some use for a short bed truck once in a while! LOL
