Post Need info about a good replacement clutch

I have a stock other than a tuner, 2003 FORD F 250 SUPER DUTY with the 7.3 power stroke diesel and my clutch is going out in it. Have priced a replacement clutch assembly from and they want $850 for OEM replacement. I would like to know who manufactures their replacement clutch. I priced a heavy duty clutch assembly from NAPA and they wanted close to $700 and it has a ceramic clutch disc and new fly wheel. I checked out Rock Auto, EBAY, JEGS, and SUMMIT for a clutch assembly but don't know which manufacture is a good one.

I am looking for some help in selecting a good replacement clutch assembly. My truck is stock other than a BULLY DOG TUNER and I do haul heavy loads regularly. Any help in this choice would be greatly appreciated.

A lot of guys run the Southbend. They have an organic faced disc rated to 425-450 HP. I've heard good thing about this particular disc. You don't want or need a ceramic faces clutch. Those are for guys racing or sled pulling. They are very grabby and backing a trailer is a real pain with it.

I have a Valair clutch in mine and I like it other than the noisy neutral it has served me well. I used the OEM flywheel and just had it resurfaced.

+1

I don't have a ZF6 but I run Southbend's OFE clutch in my 500hp VR4. Organic compound on one side and Feramic material on the other which results in stock-like pedal pressure and engagement but with the added increase in torque capacity.
