my clutch is in need of replacement... I haul an 11-1/2' camper. I would like to replace with a heavy-duty, best quality clutch, but, have not had any luck locating on the web.
I have a 1989 F350 crewcab 4x4, w/460 engine, and ZF 5-speed
centerforce3 is a good one if u want to spend alot. i use the stock 12inch clutch and disk in my hevey duty and it works very well under a hevey load. there is also a 13inch clutch and disk that should bolt right up to the stock fly wheel if you want an extreme clutch
I have a similar truck, but mine is an '87. I am very happy with the clutch selection I made a little over a year and 115,000 miles ago. I went with the LUK PRO GOLD SERIES. I got excellent service and a good price from Broadway Transmission in Red Lion, Pa. He did very well for me. Luk makes ALOT of the new car and truck clutches and knows a thing or 2 about clutches and they brag up this PRO GOLD SERIES. Part number is 07-910 You can search google and will come up with the dial-a-clutch website and maybe Carolina clutch. They carry the line also.
Like I say, I'm very happy with the feel and the expected longevity. If your doing some mudboggin or something like that with a 500 HP motor, then a centerforce or similar high performance clutch might be in order.

I don't really know, they guys at dial a clutch could tell you or contact Brian at broadway transmission BDWAYTRANS(No Email Addresses In Posts!) He gave me a price including shipping that was about $25 cheaper than the other places.
Also, I just remembered...... last time I was in the back room of the local Ford Garage (that services ALOT of trucks) I noticed stacks of LUK clutches. There may have been 8 to 10 in a stack and 4 or 5 stacks, with many of the PRO GOLD SERIES clutches among them.
Like I say, I'm happy with my choice as the Pro Gold Series seems to be a more heavy duty application clutch such as for towing, that doesnt' put a hole in your wallet. They also have developed a single mass flywheel/clutch assembly for the 7.3 diesels that are getting good reviews.
The Luk Pro Gold Kits are a diaphram style clutch. As for price if you go to www.carolinaclutch.com, we gaurantee to beat any comparable products price by 5%. The Luk Pro Gold kit for the 460 is 235 for a complete 5 piece kit.
BCA makes the rel brg. I cannot remember if the pilot is a brass bushing or a needle brg. In many cases Luk will put both the bushing and needle brg in each kit.
would a bearing from a different manufacture work with this kit? I want the best, I don't want to have it wear out 6 months after I put it in, like so many other ones I have had.
Richard
Luk has a pretty good reputation for using the best components in their kits. You could use another brand brg but I do not beleive you will do any better than what Luk already puts in these Pro Gold sets.
Just as an FYI, I've heard that what makes Centerforce clutches so great in race applications is that as rpm's increase, centrifugal force causes weights to press harder down on the fingers (I believe) and that's what keeps these clutches from slipping. Not totally sure, but unless you're spinning pretty high rpm's, the centerforce may not be the best or most cost-effective choice for your application.
