I've found the yellow the best adhering but if find it rather messy trying to do this as a one person installing these by yourself. I like using Black as it don't should how really messy you were if to have a darker colored vehicle. I say use the 3m glue color the will blend into your paint color.
I don't know why Ford was so cheap by gluing this seal on compared to having a slide on lip locking that did not need to be glued on.
Even the GM trucks were not glued on like bumps were done.
Even the waiting time for these seals to setup an consumed time to do this don't seem like ford could save time & money doing it that way. Like what were they thinking?
Any way what, I've always done was clean any seals inner grove where you apply any glue with acetone to remove any mold release that may have been left on the seal that may cause the glue to not adhere good to the rubber seal itself when the seal is being installed.

Some guys like the DC door seals, I replaced my door seals back in 1980 with ford oem ordered at a ford dealer. It lasted about may be 15-18 yrs then replaced it from one out of a mail order catalog? Than was now having to slam the doors now and for a long time
Then ordered one, I think was NPD can't remember for sure any longer.
But was still having to slam the doors to latch.
One door seal I rip out after 4 months and wire wheeled all the old glue off
Then started looking for a better softer seal.
Then a guys on here fte said he was using one that was the best he found with out having to slam the doors.
He posted the name that a few vendors carry it Soffseal when doing a search, I got mine from Summit.
I found this seal be everything that guy said it was. I can just push my door close ez to latch.
I still hate ford for there poor way to installing these door seals for as many as, I've glued in since having my truck.
