This is my baby. And as you can see I recently broke passenger inner and outer front axel shafts. I have rebuilt the front end, but now neither hub will lock they are acting like they are in a bind. I don't know much about them what could I have done wrong for them to work fine before I broke the axel to now they won't turn to engage
Bad things happen when that u-joint gives out unexpectedly.
I'd pull the front cover off the differential and see what may have gotten tweaked in the Dana 44.
Robert
I did all of the above during rebuild checked for play in differential and checked backlash to see if anything goes was twisted or warped nothing was off new seal and new oil put back cleaned hubs and put new grease the hubs wont turn to lock in can engage 4x4 and everything going turns freely just no wheel turn hubs wont go I to lock posistion
Did you put too much grease in the hubs? You can basically hydrolock it if you did.
I don't know could be they slide fine with hub key off but act as if they are hitting metal once so far. This might be a dumb question but I tore the front end down over a month ago and the parts got moved arround is it possible that the parts are side specific?
There shouldnt be any thing side specific for the hubs to my knoweladge.
I put too much grease in the hubs on my 76 Ford and it kept it from being able to lock in. Id also tear the hubs back off and check that all the splines are good and not binding.
