Some of the 2011 / 12 models suffered from the timing chain stretch issues but I've never heard one in person. Mine certainly has had no issues to speak of other than plugs.

The common recommendation on here is, if one is looking at a used ecoboost, be the first one in the morning to start the truck. If it's going to make the grinding noise, it'll do it during cold starts.

Gas Turbo Direct Injection engines are historically tough on spark plugs. Nature of the beast. At 50K miles, the truck will be in the zone for a plug replacement. Funny thing, there are also plenty of 5.0L owners on here who are changing plugs as well because the OE are breaking down. Seems to be no rhyme or reason. Mine were replaced at 61K miles and now looking back, I was probably 7K-8K over due based on how she was acting. It took the CEL to come on really get my attention.

Keep us in the loop and good luck!
