Re tuning

Hi everyone.

I'm in Oz and have a 2003 4x4 7.3psd auto, I removed the muffler and installed the donaldson 6637 air cleaner, my truck also has the banks automind programmer, i think i have it on power or one of the higher tunes.

Someone mentioned with the muffler/filter mod i need to get a custom tune as the engine might lean out, can anyone confirm or help out with this?

Also I am going to put some new wheels on, I'm not sure if my truck is lifted, is there a way to confirm, maybe someone can tell me the stock height from the axle to the guard? I currently have stock alloys, 16x7? with 265/75-16 and want to go flush with the guards and maybe 33s, would that require 16x8 or 16x10? and what offset? With the 16x10 i would need flares? I can already hear the tyre scraping the mudflap occasionally now and want to make sure if i go suspension/tyre package i get it right first time, its hard to get exact info over here. Prefer not to go flares so maybe 16x8s is the go?

Thanks in advance, Wayne.

The engine will not lean out, nor does it need tuning if you add better air flow. Our turbodiesel can't lean out - the tuning adds fuel, the turbo responds by adding air, and we get what we get. There is no stoichiometric mix of diesel/air like there is with gasoline.

The front bump stops have a gap of 4" - 4 1/2" on a stock 4X4 truck, I think the RWD trucks are the same.

Thanks, appreciate it.

Also found a bit of oil in the pipe between the air filter and the turbo housing, where could that be coming from?

That's from the crankcase vent. Look under the pipe and you'll see a hose running from the dog house looking thing on top of the valve cover up to the intake pipe. Oil in there is perfectly normal.

The crankcase vent tube. It runs from the valve cover just under the intake tube to the tube itself. Nothing to worry about.

Edit: Curtis beat me to it!
