AC compressor
What's the down low on reman ac compressors? Or Napa cold power brand? Do you need a kit to go with it or with the new hose some refrigerant and the new compressor do? Thanks.

If you're converting the truck from R12 to R134a then it's strongly recommended to swap out all the old non metal hoses for current 'barrier' types used with R134a. For compressors ... I have never bought a rebuilt. My experience in auto parts has shown me that rebuilt units are returned under warranty far more often than a brand new unit. In others words a rebuilt pump is more likely to fail than a new unit. The warranty is helpful but you have to park it while you fix it, you need to buy other supplies and replace a few things every time the system is open.

AutoZone has a kit with the compressor and o rings and a drier and compressor oil. Is this better than just buying the compressor with its seal and gaskets or just save the money and buy just the compressor and figure out what new lines I need?
