The installation went well, doesn't seem to be any issues with the hub/bearing, however it was not the source of the noise. The noise is still there .

A lttle disappointed.

Chuck I had to dig deep in my recall stuff , what I found you may look into this,
Reverse planetary
Kit 5c3z- 7doo6-Ca
This number is for my late built 04 and the dealer did the recall work, it says they dropped the Tranny , disassembled , replaced the planetary and filters, recall charge was fluid, kit and two different numbers on the bolts.
This was back in February 05 recall # 04sb24

Couldn't find any information on thoses #s.

The next step is to remove the rear driveshaft and the rear axles and take it for a test drive. Going to use 4wd so only the front wheels be driving. This takes the rear differential out of the equation completely, it will not be spinning at all. If I still have the noise then I know for sure it's not the rear differential.

Anyone see any problems with my plan?? Don't want to screw anything else up.

If he wants to go that far he could easily pull the axles and make some plates to cover the hubs.

Exactly what I was thinking. Don't want to run it too long without the ring gear circulating the oil.

Axles are connected to the rear and it still spins. Driveshaft connected or not.
