This pickup has not moved since I found it 5 years ago. I showed my dad 2 weeks ago and he won't let it go. He had to take a look and talked to the folks. They don't speak good English and don't know much about it and don't have a title. I had a friend check the vin and it is clear as far as the law is concerned. Getting a title isn't too hard in tx. I have a few questions about it before he dives in.
Did an f250 in 71 come as a dually?(don't think so)
If so, did they only come as a cab and chassis?
What rear end would have come in it?
It was built in Canada, and was originally red. There is a cheap black spray job over the red. The inner flange in the rear fenders were cut with a torch to fit the duals. The interior is complete from matching door panels to the seats. There is what looks to be factory under dash A/C. The cluster is cloudy and yellow so I can't see the milage. The motor has been taken out but the 4speed(I assume) is still there. I think the driver door has been replaced is why the tag is bolted on, the metal tag matches the original on the door jam with a Canada sticker. One last question.
What would an expected price be in your area for this rig? Or, what would you give for it? Don't want to over pay.
If it's like most trucks that have been siting out doors in and open to all kinds of bad wet & sunny days weather then figure the worse of conditions. Roof drip rails rusting/rot out No replacement parts, then the floor pans an cab mounts rusted out need replacing, steering box may need replacing, Bed floor rotted, no replaces panels or patch panels.
Everything above needs to be welded in.
the rear axle may be a dana 61? fronts axle looks f350 dually.
So a lot of your spare time hrs. then any where 8-12k+ and you could have a nice looking running truck,
This all depends on your skills!
The dollars add up fast when your wanting to put it back in new looking condition.

Thanks orich. The plan is not to restore, just make it run reliable and sound, without going too deep. I am well aware how much these old one can suck up. I just got my 74/79 4x4 almost to where it needs to be. It bout broke me and from the outside absolute nothing has changed. All changes were to the hidden stuff...

Any other info on the other unknowns?
Hmm A Can of worms at best!
Or like Forest Gump's Mama said you never know what you'll get in a non running truck that's been sit-in a field for yrs.

Did an f250 in 71 come as a dually?(don't think so) No DRW (Dual Rear Wheel) F250's were assembled, no F350 DRW pickups were assembled until 1980.
If so, did they only come as a cab and chassis? Thru 1979, F350 DRW's were available as a Cab & Chassis or with factory installed Flat & Stake Beds.
What rear end would have come in it? 1967/72 F250: Dana 60 / F350: Dana 70.
All 1967/79 Crew Cabs were assembled in Oakville, Ontario Canada and all 1967/72's were Domestic Special Orders.
This is a DRW conversion, wheels are from an F350 with DRW
I'd be very leery of this truck due to how this Warranty Plate is attached. It was originally riveted on, so what you see may be from another truck.
The area of the door around the Warranty Plate was originally green, the Warranty Plate COLOR code of T = Candyapple Red.
DSO 520870: 52 = Ordered from the Des Moines IA Ford District Sales Office. 0870 = Domestic Special Order number.
There is no TRANS code, the AXLE code is partially obscured.
I omitted a pic when I first posted, there is a clean round Canada sticker near this one. The hood badges are F250. All areas where the black is wearing away is red. All interior areas are red also, door panels are all matching black. I think they replaced the door from a green pickup and had it painted and took the easy way out on the plate. Thanks ND for the info.
I'd check all the usual rust areas. The roof looks pretty dented. Depending on the rust I'd prolly buy it if cheap. Like $800.00. I'd cut out the bedsides to graft on something to look like dually fenders. One thing you should consider and maybe use. WE want Crews because they're cool and rare. But JOHN Q. PUBLIC prolly thinks it's just the opposite.
