So I just completed an EGR restrictor install on my buddies 95 F150 4.9 and boy did it make a difference. Now I'm getting code 565 for the canister purge solenoid. however I can't find the darn thing to save my life! Seems dumb and it actually kind of is but I need some input, the parts house shows 2 difference kinds and they look quite different from what I THINK I've id'd as the solenoid. The darn truck has a heck of a miss under medium/heavy throttle and I want to remove this known issue before I go hunting other stuff.

 

Follow the vacuum diagram. It's round, has an electrical connection on the bottom. Follow the vacuum line from the charcoal canister to the throttle body, it's in between on that line probably in between the intake manifold like in the picture.

 

Thanks for the info! I'm actually starting to think someone removed the darn thing. I found an electrical connector that isn't hooked to anything in that same area, it's just sitting on the intake runner not connected... I will post a picture here in about an hour of the plug. The engine is pretty unmolested buuuut, someone had tried making an EGR block off previously and did a nightmarish job, perhaps they also removed the solenoid?? Weird, I'll report back after I get a pic of the plug I'm referring to. Thanks
