Heater questions

The gas tank is almost done. The next project is to get a heater in it. The only piece I currently have is a radiator with hot water in it. Since I need everything I am wondering if there are aftermarket units that would be a better option. does anyone have experience with aftermarket units. I'm in Alabama, so I don't need something that will melt steel. Just a good defroster that looks good.

The only thing aftermarket I would think being offered today is a heater integrated with the new vintage a/c units (a complete HVAC system) that would give you dehumidified air for superior defrosting. Short of that, you'd as well find a factory heater, either a standard recirculating model, or the optional Magic Air® fresh air unit. They require locating a lot more parts, but are nice to have. There is one on eBay now, but I'm not sure how complete.

If you have the heating unit, you can still buy a new heater core. If you search for it, I posted the part number a couple years ago.

Complete heaters are on ebay all the time. $75 for the standard and about double that for the Magic-air. If you have a lot of humidity, you probably want the Magic-Air because it can pull outside air, the standard one doesn't.

I have relatively complete standard heater/defroster that came out of my '58. PM me if you are interested. I'm sure it will need a new core.
