Well, let's start with a little more information first. What truck (year, trim, etc.)? New or used (when you got it)? Any custom stuff? Where is/was this piece located.

It doesn't look like anything native to an F-250, but hey...we could all be surprised!

Doesn't look factory to me. I appears to be some kind of LED light.
5 LED's + the control circuit.
EDIT:

I think its a base for an aftermarket backlit ford emblem, either a grill, tailgate or trailer hits.

Looks like the base of a Ford Emblem, wonder if it is the base plate for a tailgate emblem with the camera??? The rounded oval ends make me think this!

It's a 99 f250 super duty xlt
It is a used truck not sure how many people before me, it's located an the driver side A pillar. Idk about "custom" but there was stuff done to it ummm the headlights, tail lights, 3rd brake light and a aftermarket radio. There was 4 12" subs laid out a crossed rear seat. There is a viper alarm system that is hooked up but doesn't work and also truck didn't come with clicker that's about all I know as of right now.

Front grill has been changed, tailgate emblem seems to be the same. I'm lost about the trailer hits thing though😂

UPDATE! it connects to the viper 450hv alarm system. Still unsure as of what it's purpose is but the alarm system does not work anyway

WEll, glad you found out where it went anyway. Can't help you on what it was for, but at least we figured out it wasn't part of the original truck.
