so i was able to remove the tailgate appliqué without breaking it. Broke most of the plastic clips on the bottom however. And ford doesn’t sell just the plastic clips. They only sell the complete assembly. So it’s roughly $400.
Anyways.....after a lot of searching, I finally decided to go with some clips that are similar in size. And they also come with the rubber/foam washers also. I think they’re Lincoln MKZ clips. I ordered them off amazon for around $13. They’re just a tad larger than the ford clips and i was able to trim the plastic with scissors. Really simple. Just trim about 1mm from 2 sides. The less you trim, the better. That way the tab stays snug. The side by side picture show how little i trimmed. The clips worked perfectly and snapped in like a charm!!!
I like where your head is at. I’ve been thinking of painting the tailgate piece and the two big bars of the grill magnetic to match the rest of the truck. And the mirror caps.
Thanks for this! I hate the silver on my all black truck. Did you get a shop to paint it?

Yeah, i shipped them out to retrocustomz in Florida for paint. They did all the parts on my truck. Now I’m just waiting for headlights to get here. They said maybe another week on those.
I actually don't mind the brushed look for the grill and the tailgate on these trucks. What I'm not a fan of though is the chrome mirror caps and the chrome door handles. Trying to decide what I want to do there (body color, gloss black, black chrome).

I went colormatched.....black shows surface scratches and finger prints like crazy.
