Question. When first driving my truck in drive auto mode, the vertical 1 thru 6 transmission indicator next to the tach was on and reading what gear the truck was in. The last time I drove the truck the indicator was off and would only appear when I was in manual mode. There is nothing in the book regarding this and a call to was of no help either.
The members with trucks are my only way to to find out when this item is on. As far as I can figure, there is no way to control this.
Is your vertical transmission indicator in the tach cluster on all the time, Or just when the truck is in M mode.

Thanks,
When you are in Auto Mode just push up on the +- button on the gear shift lever and they should reappear. Try it and report back, because that's how it's done on my 2011. Just in case you didn't know, when in Auto, pressing down once the numbers are visible are how you lock out any desired gears you want and pressing back up will bring those gears back into play.

Thanks for the quick reply. Just tried your suggestion and all is now working fine. I am coming off a 2000 F350 and trying to learn ASAP. The gear lockout info was explained in the book but not the info you supplied on turning on the readout. I don't know where we would get info without this site.
Someone posted this question in the 6.7 Facebook group and someone else replied that you need to press the up button on the gear shifter to make it come back. That appeared to fix it, I have not validated anything.
Yeah I'd noticed that, too. I caught on to it during my test drive, I like to tinker with things... if you hit up when no gears are locked out it'll toggle the display, and on my XL it saves it between restarts. I thought that was rather clever.
Yes...Chad is correct...BUT...there is also a way to set it to come on every time when you are in Drive also...my 2011 had that feature. When you start the truck it will be listed without having to press the + or -.......

Yeah I was just explaining how to get it to display. You don't have to set anything. Once it is displayed, it will show up every time he starts his truck and stay there. He has to manually push up on the +- button again to make it disappear. Same as my 2011.
