MII engine mount setup

MII engine mount setup
I tried to search for threads on mocking up a 302 on a 53-56 with a MII but no luck. Is there a special mount you have to use on the frame or do you use the tubular crossmember. Any info would be appreciated

I used this one when I put a new cross member in my truck. I did a Corvette front on mine and used the Flat out engineering kit.

Yeah would love any pictures possible of small block ford installed with MII.
Found this on another website. If I used this would this rest on top of the rails or would I have to box more of the frame to mount it inside the rails

My pictures would not show the Mii install. But what I can tell you is that I could not install one of those cross bars. My engine mounts needed to be welded onto the frame right where the new cross members now sits. I also moved the my wheel base forward 2". But even if I didn't the engine mounts still be on the cross member.

the pictures above were of two other frames that I found on old postings. the new one is a custom mount installed and the old one shows where the engine was before the IFS was put in. I have seen pics of the mounts on the cross member, the new one is a couple inches behind IFS cross member, and the old tubular mount is the same or slightly farther behind the IFS cross member. Is there that much play with the placement of a 302 in the f100?

Good photos, wish that I had seen them before I started on my 53. My 53 came with the 302 and 4 speed mounted with the bolt in type pipe mounts and straight axel. Adding the MII front changed everthing. I moved the MII 1 3/4 forward of the orignal axel center then placed engine and tranny back in the frame useing blocks to keep ever thing in place then frabicated the mounts . All is well until I decide to mount the power steering rack... the double sump oil pan hits the steering unit . It's a good thing it's only tacked in ha !

The photo in post #7 is of my 40 Ford coupe chassis. Here is what it looked like when I was fitting the engine mounts. As you can see, the initial mounts did not make it to the final design. You try to take into consideration all the parameters of the mounts but there is always something that comes up to bite you. I use a foam engine block and an empty transmission case to get the engine placement correct. As seen in the photo, a length of PVC pipe works well to show where the steering passes through under the engine mount. I read in so many posts where people think that there is some magic product that can be bought off the shelf to make xyz engine bolt into an abc frame...lots more work to it than that, even the tubular crossmember mounts are made to be adjustable.

MII crossmember in 1950 F1
I fabricated my mount mounts in my 50 F1; after alignment of engine and transmission. I boxed the front end of my frame so the mounts are welded to that, they did not line up with the crossmember. I had steering interference with the mounts so my steering linkage passes through the driver side mount, which was modified to suit.
