I am building a truck back to more of a stock configuration with a 292 (closest thing I could find). Prior owner already removed whatever mounting frame was in the engine bay so I don't have a good idea as to what I need to do to mount engine. I have searched for stock pictures, but can't find pictures or drawings. Does the front of the engine rest on a cross member or do motor mounts attach to the side frame rails?
Any guidance, pictures of stock configuraiton will be very helpful. I suspect that there is a cross member that was cut out.
The front engine mount bolts to the center of the cross member. The rear mount is the side most "ears" of the bell housing resting atop the cross member.
I'll try to find or take a picture of mine.
Edit: Pictures added, not quite as pretty clean as some
Post #47 should help you on this page https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...oration-4.html The first picture shows the front mount, the last two show the rear mounts. The passenger side mount is in picture #6 behind the black tube, driver side mount is in pic #7 next to the linkage.
Thanks for taking the time to assist me. Hoepfully, when I learn a little bit more I can return the favor to the next guy. These are very helpful. Now I can figure out exaclty which parts are missing.
The 6 cylinder trucks did NOT come with the additional cross memeber, so if your truck was originally a 6 it never had it. All frames are drilled for it though.
