Hi,

The tachometer cable on my 71 C-900 rusted through and I am having a hard time locating a replacement.

Vin Number C90KVK90504

477 engine

Cable is approximately 110" long, drive off of the governor and hooks to another short cable just inside of the cab.

There's another for 1970/72 C/CT900 (8 cylinder gas) that's 105.00" long.

What the difference is, I don't know.

VIN doesn't tell you much...

C90 = C900.

K = 477 4V

V = Kentucky Truck Assembly Plant.

K90504 = 1971.

Metal Warranty Plate riveted to the left door face below the latch (or possibly on the inside of the glove box door), has faaaar more info.

*When there is no COLOR code stamped on the Warranty Plate, the truck was painted a non standard color per the original purchasers order, making it a Domestic Special Order.

#The 3rd digit of the AXLE code appears to be an N, but the pic is blurry, so it may be something else.

Just got the new Tach cable installed and it is nice to have the tach working again after at least 7 years. A big thanks to Bill for looking up the part number and locating several of them. and shout out to Ericson Ford in Loup City Nebraska for shipping me the cable at a very affordable price.
