EGR fail question
It is a system composed of many parts.
There are separate tests for dynamic operating functions and electrical tests along with just plain hardware faults.
Dpfe electrical failure code,
Dpfe connecting hose failure code,
Vacuum regulator valve code,
Vacuum regulator valve electrical failure code.
Failure of connecting hardware can set these failure codes.
A port blockage can cause a failure code.
An EGR valve failure can cause a failure code.
Bottom line is you can't state the failure as open or closed condition.
The failure code is the major indicator of what kind of failure was detected.
You go after that type of operational failure only.
For example a 401 code would not be an electrical failure of the EVR valve even though it's part of the testing because the electrical fault take presidence over allowing a dynamic system test to take place. This failure would stop any further testing
Reason is, without the EVR operational the rest of the test procedure cannot be done.
There is a Hierarchical order to testing.
Put it another over simplified way, you cannot put a floor in place in a new house if there is no foundation under it, to support it.
Good luck.
