I've looked at this 10 ways to Sunday, but the play on words have me questioning if it is the same thing. My truck says Tire Pressure Monitor Fault. I have a 2011 F350, if that makes a difference. I checked all my tires, they are about 80psi each, front and back.
What could be the problem? Is it something to take to a Ford Dealer or something I can fix myself? Thanks. Any help is appreciated.
It's not really a low pressure warning, it's telling you that something is wrong with the system.
I just went through this on a 2014 that I recently traded. 3 times I was at a dealer for this same situation. First time they couldn't find anything wrong with the sensors so they ordered a new body control module. Second trip they installed it. Third visit they replaced 3 out of 4 tire sensors. Each time I'd get about 12 miles from the dealer coming home and the warning light/message center warning would pop back on. I think that the only reason the warning ever shut off at the dealer is because they unhook the battery when servicing. I was scheduled for a 4th go round, but traded the truck at a different dealer.
After posting and discussing with some folks on this forum, I arrived at the conclusion that it was a USB charger that I had plugged into one of the dash 12V plugs for my dash camera & iPhone. Apparently many of them create some kind of radio interference that messes up the communication between the sensors and BCM. Another poster here said that he had the same issue when his wife plugged her iPhone into one of the dash 12V ports but not if they used the one down in the lower console.
I removed the charger and camera one night after shutting the truck off. Started it the next morning and warning was gone. 600 - 700 miles later I traded for a new truck. The warning never appeared again for the remainder of the time that I had the truck.
Apparently this issue is well known among owners, but any dealers who may have solved it (Davidson Ford in Watertown, NY was not one of them) haven't communicated this to Ford or each other very well.
I have the same camera operating in my new 2016 but I'm using a dedicated charger for it, not the universal USB type. Almost 1,000 miles on the truck and no problems so far.
Here's the whole sorry situation from previously: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...sor-fault.html
You will need to get the sensors checked, I had the same error message and it was due to a dead battery in one of the sensors
X2; I just went through this on my 2011 F250. Driver Front was in a 'fault' state not a low pressure state. Sensor was not reading at all and had to be replaced.
When I bought my truck it had a TPMS problem. I took it to Discount Tire and they said all it needed was reset. Also told me I could do it myself if I wanted to. Might try the above and see if it works.
