I've always heard good things about Amsoil and would like to switch to it but I want to follow Fords recommended change interval (when the dash tells me) and I then have the documentation to support it. That interval is around 7000 miles.
My question is if I switch to Amsoil will the truck sensor still tell me to go at 7k just based on mileage or does that sensor actual "sense" the condition of the oil and let it be extended to 10 or 15k miles? I really don't want to risk warranty coverage.
There is no oil quality sensor. The IOLM uses a math equation (algorithm) to decide when you should change your oil based on temps and loads, as well as mileage. The truck doesn't know if you're using mineral oil or the best synthetic money can buy, nor does it care.
