2013 E-150 Wagon / AC mod

I have a with Econoline Factory front and rear AC, and I'm in Florida it does cool the best that it can so I was reading up about possibly swapping the pulley for a smaller size so that it would spin faster at idle and high speed.

Part number YB3104

Any help would be appreciated

To make matters worse this is also my Mobility van I drive from my wheelchair so the Heat does bother me.

I can't offer any advice, but I have to say that is a sweet looking van. I'll bet that big black roof in the Florida sun ain't helping with keeping things cool.

Yup, black is a bad color for heat
Also, I've never heard of swapping out the pulley to make the AC work better.

Do you have rear AC ?

Yes Factory front and rear. That's my question I don't know anything about changing the pulley.

Try painting the roof white before messing with the compressor pulley. You might be surprised. I did that to my black E-350 and I swear that it lowers the inside air temp of the truck when parked in the sun by 15 degrees or more. Seriously. 2nd best mod I ever did to my V10 truck. (First was the rear 4.30 LSD).

Need measurements!
Get some temperature readings of the A/C before you do anything tricky. I recommend a cheap digital meat thermometer that you can stick into a dash vent. Write down your measurements:

-after sitting still idling for 5 minutes
-immediately after that ^ but hold the engine rpm up steady at 1,500-2,000
- general range of what temperature it's blowing at steady driving speeds on small roads.

Keep track of outside air temp for each.

Report back to us with your findings and we will give you lots of opinions

The point of my plan is to see if something is wrong with your system. No sense doing "improvements" if there's a malfunction.

Another thought that I had was to try the adhesive reflective mylar (i.e. body wrap). It's a non-permanent solution if you don't like it, and you could apply it only where not visible from the ground (e.g. between support ribs on top). It's relatively inexpensive and readily available (Amazon).

I haven't tried it yet, but if I do another long trip out west in the summer, I'm going to do it.

This is food for thought. If I were to do it I would try PlastiDip, that way you can just peel it off. As high as the OP's van is you'd never see it from street level, if you just did the flat part. I know for certain this would help as I have a black van, and a white one--big difference in interior temps. I try to keep the black one parked in the shade, which helps big time.
