I've got a 17 CCSB, 4 X 4 with the 6.7. As I understand it, I should have the 34 gallon tank. I filled it up today and have a question. I was below 1/4 tank with the display telling me I have ~60 miles left before empty and mileage at 14.3. It took a little over 20 gallons. At a glance, the basic math seems off. Do Fords typically build in some type of large "reserve" into the fuel gauges?
Distance to Empty calculations are usually very conservative. But not sure how many gallons will remain when it hits zero typically. I agree, something seems off. If this happens a few times in a row, it might be worth a trip to the dealer.

In looking at the new "full" calculation.....it seems right on. Its at something like 485. If I take 14.3 X 34....I get 486.2. Ahhh, its probably nothing, but I'll keep an eye on it. Thanks
Distance to mty can be reset on the dealers computer. I would rather have "0" be out of fuel. Not some arbitrary number set in the planning department.
It might be something you can set yourself with a bluetooth OBD reader and cell phone app and the Forscan system. I just scratched the surface of the abilities of the system. Rodney has (Karl4Cat) turned me on to the system and could explain much more about it.

Funny you mention this. I have fueled up 3 times now, twice when the guage read between 1/4 and 1/8 tank remaining. It took around 22-25 gallons to fill me up. I didn't put too much thought into at the time, but it did strike me as odd since I was expecting nearly 30 gallons. When full, the DTE shows over 520+ miles, which is about right. I guess I will have to pay more attention next time I fuel up.

If it read 1/4 tank and took 25 gallons, then that's almost spot-on for 34 gallons.

I'll have to check again, because I believe it was closer to 1/8 on that fueling, and that the one just below a quarter was 22 gallons. Perhaps I misremember, but the thought did occur to me at the time that it seemed to be a couple of gallons off what I was expecting.

I conveniently cherry-picked the numbers (fullest tank, most gallons) to make the calculations work out.
I have been wondering the same thing. I also filled up 3 or 4 times now and each time my gauge shows between 70-90 miles to empty and it Only took 20-22 gallons to fill up...With a 34 gallon tank it doesn't seem to be adding up.
I wonder if they take the Unusable fuel into the calculations, Maybe it is a 34 gallon tank but you use 1 to 2 gallons on unusable fuel. which would make it a 32 gallon tank. We may actually never know till some one actually runs out. And no I am not volunteering to experiment
