back doors won't open

I have always been afraid this day would come - that the engine would outlast the door and window systems.

I have never previously in life wanted a vehicle with electric assisted windows and doors for this reason - remember when those were expensive foo-foo options on a vehicle?

Anyway the back passenger door window has not worked for a couple years now. Not too big a deal.

A month ago the back passenger door could no longer be opened from either side. Not too good and I couldn't see much of a way to ever fix it.

This morning the back driver side door won't open from either side. The lock only half-heartedly wants to unlock via the powered system though it can be fully pulled up manually (not as possible on the passenger side rear).

Any ideas?

Next up will be the front doors...

You'll need to remove interior door panel. My guess is that the cable ends are shot. Try these:

They are billet ends and will outlast new OEM cables for way less money.
The ones in picture are from recently rebuilding every door on my van. They have kits for the trucks too.

Yes this is exactly what he needs. All 4 of my cargo doors wouldn't open from either side. So this weekend after watching Youtube videos, I removed the mechanism and put new ends on the cables. I was dreading it like you wouldnt believe because I figured I would quickly get overwhelmed/. But once I got involved it wasnt hard at all. It's really quite easy. I wish you lived closer to me (I live in Idaho) I would show you how to do it. (disclaimer I only fixed the outside handles, I didn't bother with the inside handles since it's a cargo van).

I have a supercab truck and when I bought it nearly a decade a go the two rear doors did not open.

I found the solution noted above and posted my thoughts on it in the link below.

Link: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...t-join-me.html

I ended up buying a new mechanism and cable set from Ford for the passenger side as it was just too worn. The driver side is still on the fix action noted above. I did route the cables a different way in order to make their pull/lever action more on point. I used metal zip ties in an effort to provide some longevity to the rigged up solution.

Been working great for well over 7 years now.

Thanks for bringing this thread back up. This is something we see pop up from time to time and it is good to see new updates to old issues.
