Pulled and replaced fuel pump relay - now won't start

A little background first:
Starting in mid-Aug I started to have some running issues with my '89 F250, like stalling at idle. It's progressively gotten worse since and now stalls driving down the road. I can hear the fuel pump run when I turn the key to go to start the truck. It's always started with no issues. Even during this stalling problem. I figured I'd look to see if there was something obviously wrong with the fuel pump relay so I popped that out and decided maybe I'd just change it only to find out it's $20. So I brought it back home and popped it back in. Now the engine keeps cranking but it won't turn over. I can still hear the fuel pump run when I turn the key. Now it smells like it's flooded so I'm going to let it sit for a while. Another piece of the puzzle is that I did end up pulling the relay while the truck was running cuz I wasn't sure which relay wasfor the fuel pump. As soon as I popped it off the truck stalled so I'm pretty sure I pulled the right one. But why will it not re-fire after replacing it?? I included a picture of the relay. I'm not sure if this is the original or not. The truck has 160k on it. I'd like to drive it somewhere to see if I could have any codes read but I can't even start it now😩

I let it sit for a while and it fired right up. I let it idle and warm up and was going to drive it up to the auto parts place to see if there were any codes they could read. It idled for about 5 minutes then stalled and won't restart again. My guess is if I let it sit for a while it will restart and then do the same thing again. Any thoughts??

Look under there for sure, but if you hear the pump pre-prime at key on consistently, its not the relay.

Pull the spout & see if it cranks & runs.

What do u mean "pull the spout"? I ended up having to get it towed this afternoon. I took it up to AutoZone once I finally got it started. I was going to have them read the codes. Which they did. But when I got back in to leave the truck would click one time and not do anything. Before I left my house to go to AutoZone I did have to crank it several times to finally get it started. The AutoZone guy thinks maybe I cooked my starter and it was froze up. I banged on it with a hammer to no avail. It was pretty darn hot after turning the Ky in the AutoZone parking lot several times. So we're the battery terminals. I figure I'd just have it towed and let them figure it out. The one thing I certainly don't understand is electric.

This is what you un-plug to set the timing on our style trucks. It takes the computer out of the equation.

Does the fuel pump run continuously with the key on?
