Thumbs down DONE😡😡😡😡

2015 F-250 SC King Ranch 4X4 6.7
Less than 2 years old with 41,000 mi..
Took to shop after quit running. CEL & exhaust filter overloaded messages.
Dealer calls says fuel system full of rust. $10,000 to replace. They will clean exhaust filter. I don't know if it's just me but I don't think I should have to pay $10,000 in maintenance on a $70,000 truck less than 2 years old. Why didn't Ford design a "filter" system to "filter" trash out or blind off protecting a $10,000 fuel system?? I purchased a new Ford truck every 2 years since 1996 with a couple years in that time only going 1 year. I also purchase my wife a new Ford every 21/2 - 3 years since 1991. Never again!

If this is fuel contamination, isn't that covered by your auto insurance? Not sure I have all the necessary details though. Did you talk to your insurance company?

Yes I filed a claim. My point is shouldn't be happening @ all. If you get contaminated fuel it should be caught be the filters before allowing it to destroy the entire fuel system. How many insurance claims before your cancelled?

did you regularly check your fuel by draining once a month? If so I imagine you would see some discoloration? I try to check mine once a month but sometimes its a few months but every time its nice clean diesel.

If you are using an emulsifier additive, it will allow the water to move past the filter.

Do you use an additive of any kind? Brand or name if you do?

I think that may be the problem then (Lucas).Used the oil additive for gas engines but I wouldn't put anything they make in a diesel. Especially the new diesel fuel additives they have out.

I would use something that has been proven diesel trucks (Power Service, Stanadyne,).

The company I work for has millions of $ worth of heavy equipment. They run Lucas in everything including their diesel UTV's. I do not run the "new" additive. The problem is quite easy to see. When you have a filter system designed to allow rust or any solids to pass through it therefore contaminating the entire system you have a poor designed system. We run John Deere engines off carbon steel fuel tanks. They are fueled from fuel suppliers, fuel tanks from back of pickups & fuel cans. The will & do get trash in them. We change the 2 fuel filter, prime system, circulate n filter tank then put them back to work. Nothing complicated. Total charges $250. Not $10K.

I think your anger is misplaced..id be blaming the fuel supplier you bought the low quality fuel from. Good luck finding a tier4 diesel to run on diesel with water in it

I do have a problem with supplier. They initiated the situation. Doesn't change fact about Fords poorly engineered filter system. I never said a word about any water??? I work in the filtration industry. If my results duplicated Fords I wouldn't have any customers.
