Ahh, thanks! Yea, Low Fuel Economy light would always be on unless coasting downhill. So I guess I'll just leave it disconnected or remove it.
Interesting but it is a '76 per the VIN on the frame and door tag. My instrument cluster does have that light.
I know this truck has had some mods before we acquired it. At some point it was even converted from a 2wd to 4wd. Maybe not the original cab...

That's interesting - I didn't know this was ever an option. It looks like it's simply a vacuum activated lamp.
In a lot of U-Haul trucks, they have a vacuum gauge, but it's labeled "fuel economy" or similar. They're in the green when vacuum is high, and red when vacuum is low. I was intrigued by the U-Haul gauge until I figured out that it was simply a vacuum gauge!

You triggered a memory of when I left Ft. Benning in late '84 - another guy and I rented a U-Haul built onto a Ford mini-truck chassis and drove non-stop to New Hampshire. Damn thing had an AM radio, no heater, and a governor that would NOT allow it to exceed 55mph. We drove the entire trip with the accelerator mashed to the floor... after a while the driver would get leg cramps from having that throttle on the floorboards for hours at a time. Started at 3PM one day and arrived about 10PM the next night...31 of the longest hours of my life. You kids have no idea how much fun the double nickel was in real life.
