2015 F-250 SC King Ranch 4X4 6.7
Less than 2 years old with 41,000 mi..
Took to shop after quit running. CEL & exhaust filter overloaded messages.
Dealer calls says fuel system full of rust. $10,000 to replace. They will clean exhaust filter. I don't know if it's just me but I don't think I should have to pay $10,000 in maintenance on a $70,000 truck less than 2 years old. Why didn't Ford design a "filter" system to "filter" trash out or blind off protecting a $10,000 fuel system?? I purchased a new Ford truck every 2 years since 1996 with a couple years in that time only going 1 year. I also purchase my wife a new Ford every 21/2 - 3 years since 1991. Never again!
Better put $10K aside for when it happens to all diesel owners. It's not a matter of if it will happen but when. It could happen again my next tank of fuel.

you will save far more money than the fuel system will cost you,by no longer buying new cars so often and trading them in at a huge loss.10k shouldn't upset you too much compared to the hundreds of thousands you could have now,had you run older vehicles instead since '91 and invested your losses in say,a total s&p500 index/total market fund and not taken a lose every 2-3 yrs on a car.
of course if never again, simply means the same spending habits just with a different co. then disregard.
about modern diesel engines,
i'll never understand why people are willing to pay so much for a deprecating liability and in this case, willing to risk so much knowing ford doesn't cover the fuel system.if everyone was like me,the trucks wouldn't cost so much and we would have coverage on the whole thing.why? because ford couldn't sell trucks otherwise.

Sort of agree about the trade in interval. Every 2 yrs with about the same mileage and you have to be taking a bath in trade in lo$$. Definitely look into the insurance claim.
The fix is a new high pressure pump, eight new injectors, new lift pump, filters, and clean the lines. You can't clean contamination out of the injectors and the pump is usually the source.
