ball joint diameter? 74-77
I have a 74 Bronco. it had drum front brakes. I converted it over to disc using a 76/77 front disc steering knuckle.
I had a shop install the ball joints and reassemble the front end. When I picked the truck up the mechanic said the ball joint diameter did not seem to be correct diameter. when placed into the axle, the nut would not draw down onto the knuckle- so they used a big washer to take up the slack. This was the beginning of my steering problems. The truck ever since had steering problems. I took it to another shop for realignment and they sat the front end is binding- to tight at the knuckle. So before I go pulling this back apart can anyone confirm their are different diameters in the ball joints. I think the original shop ordered joints for a 74 and they should have been for a 76/77 due to the steering knuckle or maybe the other way around- joints to fit the 76/77
Or am I just totally wrong?
I don't have answ on this Q. I'm 70% off rd & as long as it don't hit a tree, logger, or draft animal all's OK.
I DO know the '76/7 has different ster. linkage geomitry than all other yrs (along w/the discs) but that's not ur issue.
