Another signal light, flasher question
I'm starting to put the truck back together. Today I started the truck for the first time with no vacuum leaks in about two years.
I do not have installed yet-radio, dash cluster, rear lights (disconnected at rear harness)
Fuse box-instrument panel fuse does not have power on either side-not sure if this relates to my problem or not.
While putting the truck back together, I cleaned all grounds to metal and applied dielectric grease on every connection I put together.
I have grounds:
from the engine block to the cab
battery negative to the firewall
battery to the radiator
battery to the engine block
I have headlights. Taillights are disconnected.
When I start the truck I everything is out of wack in terms of the signals, flasher, markers. Everything is doing what it should not be.
I can explain, but I think I need a better handle on this. Is there a procedure to test the signal switch? Or a test to see if I have proper power coming into the signal switch from the connector under the cab?
I have tested the signal switch with a test light and they all 6 have power at various times.
I know everyone says grounds, but I think I am good with grounds. Does the fact that the inst. panel does not have power have something to do with this?
Thanks
I discovered my headlight switch was bad-therefore the instrument panel fuse had no power until this worked correctly.
I hooked up the rear lights (flareside-so they were resting on the gas tank-no bed installed yet) with what I thought was grounded because the tail lights went on. I lifted them up and they went off. So I thought I had ground. The flashers and signals were flashing alternately. Then I properly grounded the rear lights and all worked as it should.
So Grounds and a complete system are a must.
