I have ruthlessly searched for this problem on a 68 truck on this forum, i am in deep trouble here. (1968 truck) neither of my turn signals, emergency 4-ways work, or indicators in the instrument panel. one brake light is burnt out too. I think i may need a whole new switch assembly behind the wheel, would that work? i know this is not a quick fix. can someone please send me in the right direction on this matter, thanks!
There are numerous threads concerning lights...I too have experienced problems with the rear lights on my old 71...and still am...According to most of the replies that I have had...one has to be very patient...correct one problem at a time...Need to get all of the lights working, check grounds, bulbs, etc. If mine was a daily driver, I too would be in dire straits...Check all of the thread concerning this problem...Good luck!
When I had problems with my lights, I started checking from the light itself and working my way back. I cleaned the ground, checked the bulb, then checked for power every couple of yards going back to the cab. A lot of the problem was some old wiring that was done to add lights for a trailer. They put it on about 20 years ago and it was a real mess.
This might be a dumb question, but have you checked out the fuses? I'd also make sure that you have power going into the emergency flasher switch and that the flashers are good (one for the turn signals, one for the flashers). All that stuff is a lot easier than replacing the whole turn signal assembly, if that's what it all comes down to.
