E99 stalling and sometimes running rough.

e99 Romps on start up and randomly dying.
Bought this truck about 3 weeks ago. Previous owner mentioned he had issues with it getting hot and shutting off and not starting. Has new IPR, ICP and pigtail, I just put in a new fuel filter. Has 206k miles on it and is the 4R100.
The past two days after sitting all night I have been cycling the key twice and it hasn't done its romp. Typically when it does I can tap the pedal once and it goes away. This I could deal with but its started to die randomly while driving, never while cruising down the road. Its either just after starting it and rolling slowly or slowing down for a stop or to turn. When it dies, I can put it in neutral and it fires back up no problem. SES light usually comes on for about 10-15 seconds after but goes away.
Replaced the grey CPS that was in it with a dark grey one from RiffRaff Diesel.

Got a Edge CTS2 Insight in to help figure out the problem, the codes Im getting are P1280 and P1247.

The ICP pigtail they replaced they spliced on with butt connectors. I plan on pulling it to check for oil and make sure it does look new and redo the connections with solder then shrink wrap them.

I was told to check the IPR% under full throttle which I did and it never went higher than 36.7

The truck did start running rough around 45-50 mph and I did get a video of the ICP jumping around while cruising down the road.

Then I went through a drive through and the truck kind of hiccuped like it wanted to stall and the ICP went right to 725 PSI and idled up and stayed there until I started to leave.

Truck is pretty much stock, K&N air intake and muffler cut out and straight piped.

Here is a link to the videos I got.

What's your fuel level? Hutch mod done on fuel tank? You could have clogged strainer in the tank. You can pull the fuel line off the back end of the pump and blow air into the tank and clear it temporarily if that's the problem. Remove gas cap first.

Fuel pretty close to full. Gauge is broke but it was topped off probably 60 miles ago. No Hutch and harpoon yet. I was planning on doing it soon but don't want to drop the cash on it until I get the truck reliable to drive in case something more pricey is the issue.

Do you recommend any kit or company who has the Hutch and harpoon parts ready to go rather than piecing it together?

Pretty sure the steady 725 ICP is the default value given by the PCM when the ICP sensor malfunctions. There's no way actual psi is a steady 725.

I'd address that pigtail wiring you mentioned. If that doesn't fix it I'd suspect the ICP sensor is bad, even if new. Ford or IH only on that sensor.

The truck will idle a bit rough in this scenario, but that doesn't sound like "almost stalling". That is what an over-fueled idle sounds like. With your EOT, that ICP is too high, and the PCM is constantly trying to correct the fueling to compensate for overpowering the idle.

This is where logging really pays off. I have a small screen on my daily computer, the camera is far from the OBDII screen, and stuff happens faster than an eye can catch on several PIDs at a time.

We are also missing a key piece of the puzzle - Fuel Injector Pulse Width.

Here are the PIDs to log when troubleshooting our trucks:

Alright I think I figured out the stalling. Went to a store to pickup a few things. Fired up the truck and let it run for a minute and it stalled. Electrical in nature being it just died. Got to a friend and started wiggling around wires to check for bad Connections and that's when I found it.

There is part of the wire harness and female part it plugs into bolted to the bottom of the column. One of the previous owners had it replaced and someone didn't remove the mold nut on it so it could fit all the way into the harness causing it to lose connection at the slightest of bump.

Got that screwed down tight and it's been running great so far. I'm hoping it's all good now but I'm not thinking in that lucky. Will continue to respond back with updates on how its running.
