Was driving My '94 F150 this afternoon, when the speedometer needle suddenly bounced from 30 mph, to 0, and back to 30, the odometer blanked out as it did that, What would be causing the problem?
My truck does the same thing, my dad fixed it for a while by taking the sensor for it out and cleaning it. If i remember correctly he said the sensor was on the rear dif.
Since the odometer is going blank cleaning/changing/etc. the VSS on the rear axle is pointless. Check Fuse 18 for signs of stress, corrosion. If that checks out remove the dash cluster then inspect the PSOM. Well known to have cold solder joints and other damage over the years.
for reference it's the circuit board on the lower right:
Grab one from junk yard before taking yours down if possible. It will help you practice & the one you have may not necessarily show any visible damage. Mine didn't.
I believe anything F (E?) series, 93, 94, 95 will do essentially & shouldn't cost a lot. You'll loose your mileage.
