I have a 78 Bronco (work in progress). I am having some trouble finding the right carb to use.
I have a 460 (board 30 over) Miling rv came (light pull). I have had a 600 and a 750 holley on it so far but not satisfied. (it bogs to much) any thoughts?
First of all, I think that the 460 site might be the place for this one. Most people here are used to dealing with 300ci's and 1bbl carbs.
That said, if your 600 was bogging, there is a problem with the setup of the carb. The 460 will run on bigger, but a smaller carb is less likely to bog and easier so set up to your engine. Go with the 600 and adjust the thing till you get it running right.

but thanks for the in-put (on the carb thing that is)
When I grow up, I want to put a 460 in my "lil mule" - last night I questioned why someone would ask how to ID a 351 "C" vs "M" - on another "big six" website. Today it dawned on me that every possible way I know of had been listed by other members. The question had been moved - put before the 240/300 - 6 enthusiasts, yet they collectively knew several answers.
The Holley chart says the optimum cfm for a 450(closest ci listed) is 520 CFM @ 5,000 rpm, 580 @ 5,500, 625 @ 6000, 700 @ 6500. How high do you intend to wind it, or where will you be doing MOST of your driving. The 600 probably just needs a bit of tuning (like ST said...) Check with the Big Block Boys...
