Has anyone repaired the pins in the solenoid pack plug or will I need a new Solenoid pack?
I attached a couple pics of what happened. The picture of the solenoid pack connector is not real good. I just wanted the area where the broken pin is to be highlighted.
Also, how do I get the red pin retainer out of the harness plug so I can get the wire out the remove the broken pin. Don't want to break anything. I'm sure there is a place to poke or push on something to release it.
The truck had been sitting for a month or so this summer. Jumped in it to take it for a drive a couple weeks ago and it shifts real hard and the converter wont lockup. Check the codes and I have 629 (Torque Converter Clutch circuit fault) and 452 (Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) problem). It appears that the pin that is broken is for the torque converter clutch lockup which would probably be causing the code 629? I pull the plug off the transmission to check for bad connections and I find the broken pin. Bad on me for obviously not using near enough grease on the connection last time I had it apart.
On a side note I'm wondering if the code 452 is why my cruise control quit working.
you'll need to replace the pack.if you can't get that pin out, you'll need the repair harness too.
That's what I kinda figured about the pack. Oh well. Thought the plugs came apart so you could remove the wires from them. I've taken others apart like this, but they had an obvious place to push a tab in to release the red retainer piece.
well you could try removing the pack and if you can get that pin out from the harness, try your luck at soldering it back down in.it very well could be fine.might be worth a shot.you don't have much to lose other than a little split atf perhaps.i dunno about taking that particular clip apart to gain access though.
that whole plug on the solenoid pack gets replaced during a reman but i dunno anywhere you can buy it separately, nor how you replace it.
fortunately, remans are not too costly on ebay and the repair harness are fairly easy to replace and not to expensive.kinda pricey for what they are ($40) but for what they do,not too bad.

I might just replace the pack and harness. The harness is original and would hate to have the pin break off in the middle of winter sometime. I plow with the truck, too. Would rather replace it now while it is warm than in the middle of winter. Wouldn't hurt to change the fluid anyway. Found a harness on Ebay for $33 and a reman pack for about $140. Prob be $250 or so by the time I buy fluid and a fliter.
Thanks for the input. Nice to be able to discuss this stuff with others that have the same trucks.
