The video says to sand with 2000 then polish the dried blend
And since it's on the internet it has to be true, right? Do it however you want, but I see no advantage to sanding, just more chance to bring up the edge of the repair.
I'm sorry I'm not trying to be difficult a question was asked and I answered it according to my 35 years of autobody experience , some have disagreed with me and that is fine but it was not me who posted the link to the video which agrees with my suggested method . Again I apologize my answer was based on my experience not meant to start a war
Painting from the little that I know is a craft and everybody has their own way and that is the right way I'll post a pic for jimmy maybe that will cool me down
Thanks dave for idea for the gas cap<br/>Thanks Dan for the gas cap
Oh my goodness, that color combo just screams Cooool ! You may have to put a disclaimer on the windows "not responsible for whip lash, due to uncontrolled urges to look" You have knocked it out of the park my friend. Now as for the boo boo on your grill assembly. You have already got the opinions of some real top notch professionals. I think you cant go wrong taking it back to your painter friend, if for nothing else to get his input. As you know Im just a do it your DIY painter and anything I know I learned from the guys that are helping you now. My totally untrained mind would tape down the 90* seam next to the grill bars and scuff and re clear everything to the left of the tape as long as the scratches do not go thru the color coat. But as you know what I think is usually/almost always wrong, and ends up causing more effort than it saved. I know how bad that first ding makes you, me, and everybody else feel. But yours is in a real un noticeable place, and Im sure you will nail the repair, to where know body will ever see it. It's all good Roy, it wont be the last boo boo your truck ever gets. So keep on Rockin on, and you will be on the road b4 you know it. Its a beautiful truck
