Baaad Shakes
Hey All,
I have a 2001 expedition 4.6L xlt 2wd. I have this bad shake at 70 mph. My expedition has had shakes before but nothing like this. I dont normally care much about a little vibration but this is scary.
So about 2 weeks ago I wake up and go out to my car and there's a pool of transmission oil on the ground. I got under the car and noticed that the whole driveshaft was covered in it too. Took me a whole 15 mins before I realized it was the tailshaft seal. I pulled the Drivedshaft out, Marked it, replaced the seal, put the driveshaft back in, topped off the transmission fluid, and went to work. The whole process took me about an hour. Instantly I noticed the car was shaking. So, I went back home and noticed I didn't line up the marks on the driveshaft. So I pulled the drive shaft aligned the marks and went back on the road. The car was driving perfectly fine until I reached 70 mph and i swear I thought it was going to destroy itself. Dropped down to 50 and it still felt like I was riding on potholes. Idk why it's doing this. Please help

The problem could be with the driveshaft. A bad u-joint will throw it off center and cause vibration. The vibration throws the driveshaft off to one side as it spins which allows the fluid to leak past the seal.
